    1983                 2020

Shishir Lama is now one of the most renowned Leader of Association of Gorkha Baptist Churchers Nagaland, who is serving as Youth Secretary of AGBCN since 2018 till date. He was also the Evangelists under AGBCN during 2013 to 2016. But not so long ago, he was practically indulged into drinking and drug misuse not to mention the time his addictions landed him in a big trouble where his own people rejected in the society because of his habits.

There are many reasons young people abuse drugs; one of the most obvious is peer pressure. However, it is not the only reason; some youngsters turn to drugs in a bid to escape their emotions and painful situations. Take Shishir Lama, for example; Lama said he has tried GANJA, BROWN SUGAR, DRUGS, ADDICT OF CAPSULES and USE OF ALCOHOL about how staying out of the house for years at hostel led him straight to drugs.

LAMA'S MOM & DAD

Lama grew up in Tuensang, Nagaland to a middle class family whose earning depends on their small business which was mostly runned by Lama’s mom. Lama’s Dad was a Deacon of Nepali Baptist Church Tuensang, Nagaland.  Lama was the eldest son in the family also eldest Grand children for which he was loved by all. Lama was very much attached to his Grand parents who were Non believers.

Lama was indulging into bad habits since he was in high school days. Lama stated “It was a Class 10 Board exam I had studied for but I had been partying with friends and approached the exam” but I got through my board exams. His behavior and addiction was affecting his parents because of him his family members were being struggling even after counseling him by his entire family members Lama didn’t changed.

His family thought it would be a good idea to send him off to Nepal. So after his Matriculation exams he went to Nepal and stayed for 2 years. He became an active drug and alcohol addiction in Nepal he started USING DRUGS & MARIJUANA/GANJA and started PIERCING HIS NIPPLE, NAVEL, LIPS. EVEN HE TATTOOED HIS BODY. By the time he was teenage at Nepal, he was mixed up with gangs and taking drugs.

Coming back to Nagaland after 2 years his lifestyle was more different he started getting “sick” Over time, Lama’s repeated use of DRUGS & MARIJUANA/GANJA when he was at Nepal caused his body to become dependent on the drug. After coming back to Nagaland, in its absence, his body was experiencing withdrawal and he was suffering from “sickness.” His parents encouraged him, prayed for him for some days he started going to church when the society people rejected him it was Lama’s parents who stayed up with him. Lama parents wanted him to change and sent him to college but even at college Lama disappoint their parent’s hopes where he went to college just for 2 years and left his study.

8th Biennial Youth Conference of AGBCN 2018 Addressing as Youth Secretary of AGBCN

His life got a turning point during the year 2002-2003 when a Revival Program was held at Nepali Baptist Church Tuensang, Nagaland. In the past he was gripped by sin he realized that all his life he have been living the life of a slave instead of living the life of a free spirited Christian like it should be. After attending the Revival held at his church he was filled with GOD’S love and he set free all of his past fears and burdens.”

Lama finally learned the truth about the Grace of God and thereafter he went for theological study after which he was fully changed and devoted to God. Under the celebration of 25th Anniversary of Nepali Baptist Church Tuensang, Nagaland helped him to search for his identity and prayed for him and sent him to Discipleship Bible college in 2005 where he didn’t disappointed anyone and became a faithful and a God fearing person and completed his Master of Divinity in the year 2011.

During his First year of theological study a Heartbreaking Incident happened to Lama’s life where Lama’s Mother was admitted in hospital with the complaints of Gal Bladder which was also Suspected to be a cancer and Lama’s Mom was not responding to treatment, doctors declared her condition hopeless and advised Lama that only God miracle can save her life. Lama was absolutely sad hearing about his mother when he was on a verge to bring change in his life he was into a big temptation but he kept his faith alive and that night he went to his mom ward and asked forgiveness to his mom for all his behavior. Lama cried whole night and prayed to God asking for his Mom’s life and took a pledge to Share the Gospel of Christ until his last breathe for his community people and Within a few weeks, Lama’s Mom recovered from her sickness and Lama witnesses a miracle healing.  As soon as Lama heard the news, he remembered his prayer, and he knew.  He cried and laughed at the same time, Lama knew that this was an answer to his prayer.  Lama knew about the power of his prayer.

Sometimes the answer we need is not the one we want.  And that’s okay, too.  If your heart is full of faith and trust in God, you will accept the answer you get.  Because guess what?  God knows better.  And He does answer prayers. Today, Lama is serving as Youth Secretary of Association of Gorkha Baptist Churches Nagaland. He got married on 2013 and is blessed with Son & Daughter.

It is said that if anybody ever wants a Chance Give It to Them. We can only get so far before we need someone to say yes to us. As we have heard Lama’s story in this blog who was in his young age and had never been given a chance because of his own addiction & habits. But his own people & Family members gave him a chance and today we can see Lama as a humble Christian leader of Gorkha Community.

Maybe it’s a chance at a career that you’ve always wanted, or a chance at falling in love, or the opportunity to pitch your business to investors, or the chance to perform your art in front of thousands of people.

The purpose of this blog post is to get you thinking about the chances you can give other people. Give that chance to someone who you believe has a gift and hasn’t had any good luck come their way. You have so much power in your life to change lives. You can make such a dent in the world by believing in someone.
