In India, there has been an increased concern about family and community participation in the child’s education. Traditionally, the role of parents and community in India has been one of support and less one of active involvement in school learning. Since the government commenced education reforms in the last quarter of the 20th century, a more active role for parents and the community in education has been encouraged. These reforms have been inspired by the need to tackle various problems that had arisen, such as the perceived harmful elements of society’s preoccupation with academic achievement and the problematic behavior of young people.
In this paper, the following issues for parents community engagement are discussed:
- Make sure parents feel listened to: Teachers must take the lead and be as flexible as possible. Teachers and parents should be brought together. So that there would be focused conversation about the child, with both sides listening.
- The simple things work best: One nice thing the teachers should do is say a good Appreciation words to Students parents when their son does a good piece of work at schools.
- Give feedback: The teachers should be able to give Helpful ideas to their children's parents so that they can give a feedback of their work.
- Use social media to start conversations: use technology to enable the more meaningful-level communications, securely, and on a regular basis.
- Invite parents in to speak: In order to give children more purpose to what they were producing, parents should be invited in the school to talk about their children with the teachers.
- Establishing and maintaining trust with parents: Establishing and maintaining trust is the foundation for all productive, mutually beneficial relationships. The importance of establishing trust applies to all parties engaged in the school environment, including trust between parents and Teachers.
- Help parents to support their children school activities: Uploading a study material for the students at School official website the parents can engage in learning process and support their children through this method.
- Don’t be afraid to ask for help: As a teacher no one should be afraid of asking the parent for information and knowledge about their children.
